There Will Be Signs is a generative art project moving from code into the physical landscape through a series of signs and installations in Marfa, Texas. Forty-two founding works are offered first, each a distinct work or object from the project and each carrying a complimentary mint upon release of the generative series. Founders become part of the project's record through the forthcoming artist monograph and archive.

There Will Be Signs is a series of generative artworks and sign-based installations for Marfa, Texas. It treats signs as systems of meaning rather than objects of instruction. Rather than producing signs, it produces signifiers: works that occupy the visual language of signage while withholding any stable message, somewhere between road sign, interface, monument and glyph.

The project exists in two forms. A generative system produces editions on chain. Fabricated signs stand in the landscape. Neither is a version of the other, and both ask the same question: what happens when a sign loses its sender, when the institution behind the message has gone and the authority behind the directive no longer exists.
